Heavens on Fire A Jason Dark Mystery Jason Dark Ghost Hunter Book 4 edition by Guido Henkel Religion Spirituality eBooks

When our world becomes a mere pawn in an epic battle between Heaven and Hell, Jason Dark faces a challenge that threatens to shatter the very fabric of reality. As immortal angels die, and harbingers of death and destruction escape the fiery pits of hell itself, the Geisterjäger and his companions receive a desperate call for help!
Will they be able to save mankind in the face of an onslaught of demons, or will our fate burn as brightly as the streets of London?
This is the fourth volume in a series of supernatural mysteries where Jason Dark, a fearless and resourceful ghost hunter in Victorian Britain, faces off against creatures from other dimensions and the forces of evil that feed on our fears.
This series is filled with enough mystery, drama and suspenseful action to transport you to the sinister, fog-shrouded streets of gaslit London. Your encounter with the extraordinary awaits!
Heavens on Fire A Jason Dark Mystery Jason Dark Ghost Hunter Book 4 edition by Guido Henkel Religion Spirituality eBooks
Heavens on Fire (Jason Dark: Ghost Hunter) is volume 4 of Guido Henkel's series of 60-page novellas about the 19th century London detective (Jason Dark) and his Asian assistant (Siu Linn) who battle all sorts of mysterious supernatural creatures and circumstances. In this one, demons from Hell have found a way into Heaven and are killing angels. Since the attack on Heaven by the demons seems to move though London causing many human casualties and much property destruction, Jason Dark and Siu Linn must get involved. I thought this volume lacked the ambience of 19th Century London that I liked so much in the previous three installments in this supernatural series. However, like the previous installments, this one is another very creative, quick, and enjoyable read.Product details

Heavens on Fire A Jason Dark Mystery Jason Dark Ghost Hunter Book 4 edition by Guido Henkel Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
With Victorian England as the backdrop, Henkel delivers another power-packed tale of good versus evil. This time Jason Dark and his sidekick, Siu Lu, take on the demons in a battle between Heaven and Hell.
The developing relationship between the two main characters adds depth to a heavily plot-driven story. Like the previous volumes in the series, Heavens on Fire is a fast ride. Henkel's prose is descriptive yet succinct. No wasted words here. It's a style that I think would lend itself particularly well to radio or podcasting.
Though it helps to have read the previous volumes, each works well as a standalone. Heavens on Fire is no exception.
This is the first novella within the series that pulls past characters and accessories from previous novellas. In terms of characters, Heaven on Fire revisits one of the evil demons within Demon's Night, a Jason Dark supernatural mystery, the first book in the series. The cross from Ghosts Templar, a Jason Dark supernatural mystery also plays an important role within this novella. And, while I still stand by previous statements that Henkel's novellas are standalone productions, I think the reader will find it extremely beneficial to have read both Demon's Night and Ghosts Templar before reading this novella, especially as it glosses over some facts that readers may need in order to understand Heaven on Fire completely.
While I enjoyed this novella on the whole, I wasn't as interested in the storyline as I had been with Henkel's previous work. The writing, of course, is just as well done as all Henkel's other novellas, but I found I wasn't as drawn into this story as I'd hoped to be. Three stars.
We once again follow the adventures of Jason Dark and Siu Lin. This time, we watch as demonic forces take over Heaven in an attempt to destroy creation and creator. How do Jason and Siu Lin factor into this fight, and what will happen to mankind?
In some ways I think this has been my favorite Jason Dark novella so far, and that is saying a lot, because I am pretty enamored with the whole series. We continue to watch Jason and Siu Lin's characters and relationship develop, and see more to them then just warriors. I think this story contains so much beauty in its themes of good versus evil and the necessary balance provided by the existence of both forces.
Clearly, there are nods to the great works of Dante and Milton in the concept of this book. I love that Henkel tackles a topic that, in the scope of horror writing, is not addressed as clearly as other types of evil monsters. Sure we read books about demons, but rarely do we read stories about demons and angels fighting written in so bold a manner. This story causes the reader to take pause, and ponder the forces greater than ourselves. These are very traditional horror themes at play here, written in a style that is at once both classic and modern. I especially loved the fact that the glory was not just belonging to Dark in this one, in fact, the character seemed to be humbled by the role he played in the battle. I also liked the fact that this volume tied in so well with volume I, yet would have been perfectly understandable without ever having read volume I.
With each volume of this series, I am equal parts impressed with Henkel's abilities and saddened that I will soon run out of volumes to read.
Another great story featuring Jason Dark. Well written, evenly paced, it's a good afternoon read when you're looking for something to entertain you for a few hours.
